Two new members joined Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) on Friday, strengthening the body tasked with overseeing the country’s electoral process. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the École de la Magistrature in Port-au-Prince, attended by key officials, including Leslie Voltaire, President of the Presidential Transition Council (CPT), and Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

The newly installed members, Magalie Georges and Yves Marie Edouard, will represent the women’s sector and the human rights sector, respectively. Their appointments aim to ensure diverse and inclusive representation within the CEP, a crucial institution for organizing and managing elections in Haiti.

The installation of these members comes as Haiti continues to navigate significant political challenges. The CEP plays a vital role in creating the conditions for fair and transparent elections, an essential step toward restoring stability and governance.
