Former President Donald Trump took aim at Fox News on Monday, criticizing the conservative network in a series of social media posts for what he described as becoming “weak and soft on Democrats.” The criticism followed Fox News’ announcement that Vice President Kamala Harris would be interviewed by anchor Bret Baier later this week.
Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Baier, calling him “too soft on the left” and suggesting that Harris should be interviewed by a more aggressive journalist. “Lyin’ Kamala Harris has wisely chosen Bret Baier… because he is considered to be ‘Fair & Balanced,’ though often very soft to those on the ‘cocktail circuit’ Left,” Trump wrote on social media. He also took shots at Fox News personalities Neil Cavuto, Eric Shawn, and Arthel Neville, claiming the network has “totally lost its way.”
Criticism of Harris’ spokesperson and Fox personalities
In a separate post, Trump targeted Harris’ spokesperson, Ian Sams, accusing him of having undue influence over the network. “How much time does Ian Sams, Senior Advisor to Lyin’ Kamala Harris, spend on FoxNews?” Trump asked, further criticizing the presence of Democrats like Richard Fowler and Jessica Tarlov on the network.
Despite his complaints, Trump regularly appears on Fox News, having recently participated in an interview with Maria Bartiromo. He is also scheduled to take part in a Fox News town hall later this week, where he will answer questions from an all-female audience.
Fox News and Trump’s relationship
Trump’s relationship with Fox News has fluctuated over the years, with moments of praise and criticism. While he has voiced concerns about the network’s coverage, he continues to be featured regularly on its programs, underscoring the ongoing connection between the former president and the influential conservative outlet.
Fox News did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Trump’s recent remarks.
