In a significant step toward strengthening Haiti’s security capabilities, 25 soldiers from the Forces Armées d’Haïti (FAd’H) began an intensive two-week training program in Martinique on November 4, 2024. The training is being conducted at the 33rd Marine Infantry Regiment (33e RIMa) as part of a broader operational military partnership between France and Haiti. The collaboration seeks to promote stability and security in the Caribbean nation, which continues to grapple with complex challenges.
The Haitian soldiers are receiving comprehensive training, blending both theoretical and hands-on instruction. Their curriculum covers key combat skills, including the handling and mastery of the French FAMAS assault rifle, tactical combat techniques in open areas, firearms training, and overcoming obstacle courses. This approach aims to enhance their readiness and bolster individual and collective skills in varied operational settings.
This initiative reflects a deeper collaboration between the French Armed Forces in the Antilles and their Haitian counterparts, designed to address pressing security needs. The training mirrors similar programs conducted in recent years with other regional partners such as the armed forces of Barbados and Colombia. The 33rd Marine Infantry Regiment has earned a strong reputation for delivering high-quality military instruction to allied forces in the Caribbean.
