The Haitian National Police (PNH) announced the successful reclamation of Fort National, a neighborhood recently targeted by gang violence, through a statement released on social media. According to the PNH, specialized units, including BOID (Brigade for Operations and Interventions), UDMO (Departmental Unit for Maintenance of Order), UTAG (Tactical Unit), BRI (Brigade for Research and Intervention), and SWAT teams, conducted operations in the area on Tuesday, November 5, and Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
The intensive security intervention led to the expulsion of armed groups from Fort National, Miragwàn Market, and the surrounding Silvya streets. The PNH emphasized that these actions were part of a concerted effort to restore stability and ensure public safety in the capital.
Despite this significant step, the police statement did not provide details regarding any casualties or arrests during the operation. The absence of this information has raised questions among observers, but the PNH maintained a focus on the positive outcome: regaining territorial control and mitigating gang influence in a historically tense area.

Such community support, the police noted, was instrumental in facilitating the success of their efforts.
The attacks on Fort National left a trail of destruction, including burned homes, injured residents, and displaced families. Many citizens were forced to flee for their safety amid the violence. The recent police intervention, therefore, represents a critical response aimed at addressing the escalating security crisis and restoring a semblance of normalcy.
