October 14, 2024 – Haitian filmmaker Samuel Suffren has once again made a significant mark on the international film scene with his short film Des rêves en bateaux papiers. On October 13, 2024, Suffren won three prestigious awards in one day, further cementing his status as a leading figure in contemporary cinema.

Suffren was named Best Director at the Film Olympiad in Greece, a renowned global competition. On the same day, his film was honored with the France Télévision Award and received a Special Jury Mention at the Bordeaux International Independent Film Festival in France. These accolades reflect the powerful impact of Des rêves en bateaux papiers, the second installment of a trilogy inspired by Suffren’s father’s life.

The film, praised for its authenticity and emotional depth, has garnered significant attention. It is already being mentioned as a potential contender for the 2025 Oscars, and it has received special recognition at several other international festivals, including Dokufest and Filmfest Dresden. Additionally, it won Best Short Film at the Tirana International Film Festival.
