Haitian-born Lewis Cine has officially joined the ranks of Super Bowl champions. As part of the Philadelphia Eagles, Cine witnessed his team secure a commanding 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. While he did not take the field, his journey to this milestone is a testament to persistence and determination.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on October 5, 1999, Cine moved to the United States at the age of four. He first settled in Florida before relocating to Massachusetts, where he developed into a standout football player. His talent led him to Texas for his senior year of high school, where he played under NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders before committing to the University of Georgia.
At Georgia, Cine quickly made a name for himself as a defensive force. His standout performance in the 2021 National Championship game earned him Defensive MVP honors, cementing his status as a top NFL prospect. In 2022, the Minnesota Vikings selected him with the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
However, Cine’s NFL career faced early setbacks. A severe leg injury cut his rookie season short, limiting his playing time with the Vikings. After being released in 2024, he had brief stints with the Buffalo Bills before being signed to the Philadelphia Eagles’ active roster on January 8, 2025.
Though he did not play in the Super Bowl, Cine now holds a championship ring—a major achievement for any professional football player.
Following the Eagles’ victory, he celebrated by waving the Haitian flag, a powerful symbol of his heritage and perseverance. His journey from Haiti to the NFL serves as an inspiration for young athletes, proving that hard work and resilience can lead to success on the biggest stage.
