Haiti’s U-17 national team secured a decisive 3-0 win against Antigua and Barbuda in a Group E match at Estadio Cementos Progreso, strengthening their position in the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Les Grenadiers capitalized on three penalty opportunities, with Franco Celestin opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Emerson Laissé extended the lead in the 34th minute and sealed the victory with another penalty conversion in the 82nd minute.
Haiti entered the match on the back of a dominant 5-0 win over Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in their opening game. Against Antigua and Barbuda, they maintained control from the outset, dictating play and creating multiple scoring chances.
The first breakthrough came when Celestin confidently slotted home from the penalty spot. Laissé doubled the advantage before halftime, leaving the Haitian side in a commanding position.
Despite leading 2-0 at the break, Haiti continued to press forward in the second half. Their persistence paid off when they were awarded a third penalty, which Laissé converted to secure his brace and put the game beyond reach.
With two wins in as many matches, Haiti now leads Group E with six points and a goal difference of +8. The team is just one victory away from securing a spot in the next round of the qualifiers.
Their final group-stage match is scheduled for February 16 against Guyana, where a win would confirm their progression.
Under coach Eddy César, the young Grenadiers have displayed dominance in all areas of play. If they continue this form, they have a strong chance of securing a ticket to the 2025 U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
Haiti’s performance in the qualifiers so far has been marked by disciplined defending, sharp attacking play, and clinical finishing. The team now turns its focus to the decisive clash against Guyana, knowing that another victory would bring them one step closer to their World Cup dream.
