The city’s Communal Consultation Table (TCC), an initiative by Cap-Haïtien’s municipal authorities, is uniting stakeholders from various sectors to establish the city as a premier destination in Haiti and the wider Caribbean. Among its top priorities, the TCC aims to bolster safety measures citywide and along coastal areas, addressing the need for a secure environment that benefits both tourists and residents.
The TCC framework, which includes a strategic partnership with Haiti’s National Port Authority, targets improvements in transportation, sustainable coastal management, access routes, and, critically, security. By addressing security concerns, Cap-Haïtien officials aim to strengthen trust in the city as a safe and attractive destination, which is expected to drive an increase in visitor numbers and stimulate the local economy.
“Creating a safe and welcoming environment is essential for Cap-Haïtien’s vision of becoming a prime tourist destination,” said Yvrose Pierre, President of the Municipal Commission, at the TCC’s launch event, attended by local and international stakeholders.
The National Port Authority partnership includes provisions for securing transport networks and access points around the port, a critical area for visitor arrivals. Officials believe that these enhanced safety measures will create a favorable impression among tourists, supporting sustainable tourism growth and encouraging further investment in Cap-Haïtien.
Through these strengthened security efforts, the TCC aims to instill confidence among international visitors and establish Cap-Haïtien as a vibrant and secure destination, ready to welcome tourists.
