Haitian singer Anie Alerte has announced she will now perform under the name “Zile”, marking a fresh chapter in her musical career. In a video shared on social media on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the artist revealed her new stage name, promising fans the same music, energy, and love that they’ve come to expect.
The rebranding follows ongoing disputes between Anie Alerte and her manager, Sheila Whitaker. The two have reportedly clashed over the terms of a contract signed early in their collaboration. According to Alerte, they were unable to find common ground, leading her to sever ties with Whitaker.
In her announcement, Alerte urged her fans to join her on this new journey. “Nouvo non an se Zile. N ap soti yon albòm, n ap toujou jwenn menm vwa a, menm enèji a, ak menm lanmou an,” she said, assuring fans that the change reflects growth rather than a loss of identity.
Alerte encouraged her supporters to disengage from her former YouTube channel, @aniealerteofficial, which remains under her former manager’s control. Instead, she invited them to follow her new platform under the name “Zile.”
“Nou pral voye ‘Zile’ monte. N ap montre fi a se pa t janm non an. Se moun nou ye a,” she stated passionately, asking fans to back her rebranding effort by embracing her new identity.
This isn’t the first public dispute in Anie Alerte’s career. In 2020, her previous management company, Carisol Inc, demanded a $45,000 release fee and a perpetual 50% share of royalties for songs produced under their agreement. Alerte claimed the terms were exploitative and said she was not fully informed of the contract details when signing.
The fallout left a lasting impact on her career, prompting her decision to chart a new path under a fresh name.
Anie Alerte’s transformation into Zile represents more than just a name change—it’s a declaration of independence. The singer has promised her fans a new album under the Zile identity, set to launch in January 2025.
This milestone will signal the start of a new era for the artist, one she hopes will resonate with her supporters while leaving past controversies behind.
